Thousands of social media network users, Facebook, Messenger and Instagram on Thursday morning felt frustrated across the world as they could not access or chat with their applications.
Report has it that messaging systems on the trio of Facebook-owned apps mysteriously went down.
According to an online outage tracker, Down Detector logged thousands of complaints from just after 10am UK time.
Facebook also confirmed that some users were experiencing issues.
It noted that most of the issues seem to relate to messaging specifically on Messenger in particular while some users were also moaning that Facebook proper and Instagram have stopped working too.
However, the outage appears to be largely confined to the UK and Western Europe – but reports also trickled in from around the worldCredit: Down Detector.
Responding, Facebook’s official status page addmitted that there are ongoing issues.
In a statement sent to the media, it’s spokesperson said: “We are aware that some people are having trouble sending messages on Messenger, Instagram and Workplace Chat.
“We are working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible,” Facebook’s spokesperson said.
