As part of it’s effort to lift over 1800 unemployed Nigerians out of the labour market, telecommunications service provider, MTN, through it’s foundation, MTN Foundation, held 2020 ICT and Business Skills Training for the youths.
The virtual workshop was its first instructor-led session to enhance employability and entrepreneurial capacity.
According to the network provider, a Digital Marketer and Google certified trainer session instructed participants on ‘using marketing tools and social media to grow Your Business’.
It noted that participants were exposed to the rudiments of digital marketing and setting up Google business accounts to leverage social media channels for growth. ‘Google my Business’ is a free tool that allows business owners to manage how their business appears on Google Search and Maps and the benefits inherent.
Speaking on optimizing and planning a digital marketing strategy, Kenneth said, “staying competitive with Google my Business involves making informed marketing decisions, learning from the successes and mistakes of others, understanding what services to offer customers and identifying how to stand out from the crowd.”
According to the foundation, the training workshop was implemented in partnership with partners including Oracle, Google, KPMG, IBM, and Digital Bridge Institute.
It explained that the ICT and Business Skills initiative in its fourth phase complements government efforts at promoting sustainable socio-economic development in Nigeria.
It added, till date, 1,933 young people have been trained across Oyo, Kano, Imo, Nasarawa and Rivers States.
