A recent telecommunication data released by the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has revealed that MTN Nigeria has maintained the lead of other telecos in the voice and internet subscriptions in June.
This as the telco gained more than 2.7 million subscribers in the same month which represents 40.17 percent.
In terms of voice subscription, NCC’ report has it that MTN led other telcos with 78,754,855.
It is closely followed by GLO, AIRTEL, EMTS and others with 52,573,907; 52,462,347 and 12,111,674 respectively while the total number of GSM subscribers in the country was 196.03 million.
9mobile however lost 114,004 in the last month to stand at a total of 12.11 million users while Visafone subscribers remained unchanged from 137,086 subscribers recorded in February and March.
In terms of highest internet subscriber, MTN gained about 2.56 million new subscribers, bringing its total to 60.60 million.
It is also closely followed by Globacom which gained about 734,774 subscribers while Airtel added just 248,784 subscribers while the total number of internet subscriptions was 143,725,634 in June.
However, 9mobile lost 160,927 internet subscribers in April. This brings its total internet subscribers down to 7.09 million.
